Blue Sky Venture partners pty ltd
To match our commercial expertise with the creativity and ideas of bright minded entrepreneurs, scientists, engineers, who have a passion for bringing differentiated products to market. Like our name says, we form partnerships with new and existing ventures to assist these in reaching the market quicker and more profitably.
Blue Sky Venture Partners raised more than R 15 Million for various projects and new ventures in 2008. A Significant percentage of these funds are Public Grant funding (i.e. free) and was secured from agencies such as SEDA and the IDC. Another part of the funds were obtained from public innovation instruments such as the Regional Biotechnology Innovation Centres. We find these funding agencies are well aligned with nascent technology ventures and often are more risk tolerant than Venture Capitalists in South Africa.
Our modus operandi includes contacting and getting to know new ventures and entrepreneurs after receipt of a good proposal from their side. We do not expect a complete business plan but rather prefer a brief outline of the specific market opportunity and the unique solution offered. See the application section for further details.
Additionally it is crucial for
us to ensure good chemistry between the BSVP team and the
entrepreneur since we will be spending a lot of time together in
building a new business. fundraising or equity arrangements. We enjoy collaborating with, and
mentoring entrepreneurs to help them realize the commercial value of
new innovations. We also collaborate with scientists and researchers
in research projects to help manage the
commercialization of the research results.
